Certain metal minerals have become a major source of revenue for armed rebel groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa, which use these minerals to trade arms, prolong their bloody conflict with the government, and oppress local civilians, thereby sparking international controversy.
As a responsible global citizen, Ningbo Hualian Electronics declares and commits to not accepting metals sourced from conflict-affected regions. Additionally, we require all suppliers of Ningbo Hualian Electronics to:
1. Fully comply with social and environmental responsibilities;
2. Ensure that products do not contain “conflict minerals” from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and its neighboring countries and regions;
3. Trace the sources of gold (Au), tantalum (Ta), tin (Sn), and tungsten (W) contained in all products. All suppliers must complete the survey form (please download the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template; suppliers who have already submitted the latest version of the survey form do not need to resubmit it);
4. Communicate this requirement to your upstream suppliers.
Conflict minerals:
These are minerals sourced from conflict zones in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, including coltan, cassiterite, wolframite, and gold. These minerals are refined into tantalum (Ta), tin (Sn), tungsten (W) (collectively referred to as the “three T minerals”), cobalt (Co), and gold (Au), which are used in electronic and other products.
In the near future, the use of metals produced by certain smelters will be prohibited. Therefore, all critical suppliers must trace the origin of the metals used in their parts and the smelters where they were processed.
